John Gulager's Next Horror Movie Revealed: Marathon Man.

In late 2012, Dimension Films will be releasing Marathon Man, a horror movie unlike any we at GPS have ever seen before. Directed by John Gulager (Feast, Feast II: Sloppy Seconds, Feast III: The Happy Finish, Pirahna 3DD), it will tell the tale of a psychotic marathon runner who gets his rocks off by doing two things: running and killing.

The story will take place in San Francisco and follows a young middle-schooler named Jake. His life was pretty ordinary until one day, when he decided to spend the afternoon at the park. Unfortunately for Jake, that's where he witnesses a gruesome murder and has to flee from the killer, since he now knows too much.

Jake is terrified for his life.

Not to be confused with the 1976 Dustin Hoffman film, Marathon Man is in its early stages of shooting, and the filmmakers are hoping to wrap everything up by mid-summer of next year.

There are three more plot points we know about so far. One involves a grizzled jogging veteran who helps Jake understand and get inside the mind of a psycho marathon serial killer. According to the script, "He's seen this kind of thing before."

Bergron Blomqvist, jogger and serial killer expert, who's seen this kind of thing before.

The second plot point is a minor spoiler, but it gives a better idea of how Gulager plans to use suspense to frighten viewers. There will be a handful of scenes where Jake is being chased by the crazed marathoner, and tension will be built by utilizing crosswalks and "do not walk" signs. One such scene has Jake desperately trying to get to the other side of the street before the light turns and the killer is able to catch up with him.

14 seconds.....TO LIVE.

The killer will need time and a little luck on his side to finally catch Jake.

The third plot point gives insight into how the Marathon Man is able to hide in plain sight after he kills. Since the movie takes place in San Francisco, the killer is able to blend in with the San Francisco Beta Breakers as they march along the streets. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Beta Breakers, Dimension was kind enough to give us a sample shot of the killer mid-blend:

Waldo gives anyone looking for the Marathon Man a giant headache.

That's about all the information GPS currently has on Marathon Man. Usually these kinds of movies end the same way, but with Gulager's love of killing seemingly vital characters in ridiculously violent ways, there's no telling what he has in store for us this time. We hope to have a teaser trailer up within the next two months, so keep checking back with us.
