SIMMERING CINEMA & SATIRE...infrequently updated for your convenience since 2009!
Dr. Seuss! As much as I agree that the Investment in John Carter could be better directed towards the world's needs... But if we're going to go there, that's almost an indictment of all films, no? Hollywood as a whole?
yeah that's pretty much the point. I'm not pretending to stand on a soap box or anything because I enjoy the multi-million dollar movie as much as the next guy. Just a little Monday morning snark for a film I didn't really care for!
Eh...some movies deserve praise and are worthwhile even though they cost a lot of money. Others..........not so much.
This is right up there with that photo of Sarah McLachlan and the Golden Retriever, the doctored one of course:P
Haven't seen that one yet. Thank goodness for google.
Indeed Markus! It's ludicrous how much Hollywood spends on projects, they definitely live in a crystal bowl, totally unaware of the world around it. I mean, how else could you justify spending even half that amount??
I know Ruth, but the sad thing is I totally enjoy all that spent cash when the movie is good. This one isn't.
That money could of also paid for a lot of beers, lap dances and stripper tips, for young ladies who are trying to work their way through college
now that's money well spent!
Haha! So true! Could have used the budget to make 50 good movies instead! Maybe a cop thriller with John Carter's co-stars Willem Dafoe and Mark Strong.
a much preferred way to spend a gazillion dollars.
How about just one good John Carter movie?
Nope...I guess that wasn't in the cards! Haha.
But...but...if it had made a billion, that would have given Disney more than enough to give to charity. Like, a million or two. :D
If that would have happened, they would have put the proceeds toward keeping Disney's head on ice for another 20 years. Then, he could come back like Mr. Burns.
